A Northwest Intersection Gets Fixed!

Rosemarie’s  Question:

Rosemarie called the Channel 8 Traffic Team and sounds very concerned about an intersection she uses in the northwest.

ou can’t see anything coming at you when you’re at the intersection of Alexander and Cliff Shadows Parkway…model homes were recently built here. Even if you stop at the sign– the stop is 2 car lengths away from where you can actually see cars that are coming from the left. We need someone to check this out – I am worried about a bad accident happening here.

Melissa’s Answer:

Traffic crews from the City went to the intersection to research it and didn’t see any sight distance problems that went against their regulations. However, to help better regulate traffic flows, crews are planning to install a “stop bar” and this is exactly what it sounds like– a bar in front of the stop sign. This should help people gauge how far they can drive up towards the light without being unsafe. This will be placed on the southeast corner for northbound travel on cliff shadows parkway. Right now the southwest corner at the intersection is still under construction by private development, however the city will soon be taking over these roads- and once this happens- crews will install another stop bar on this corner– for eastbound travel on Alexander Road.
