Campbell & Alta School Zone Issue

Question from Robert Magahan in Las Vegas:

When driving on Alta drive at Campbell, near “Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic School” there are flashing lights to warn drivers of the 15 miles per hour school zone. However, if you enter Alta from Campbell driving north, there’s nothing to let you know, that you’re in a 15 miles per hour school zone. They need a flashing light on Campbell or at least a sign to warn drivers like me! It’s driving me crazy!!

Melissa’s Answer:

I spoke to City officials about this area and crews are now planning to install a “backside flasher indication” for drivers that are traveling east on Alta. This “backside” flashing light will provide a warning for vehicles that enter onto the roadway between the other flashers that are posted in nearby. New signs will also be mounted on Alta just east and west of Campbell. These new additions should help warn people of the school zone coming up. The work is expected to start in the next couple of weeks.

  1. Andrew Says:

The county needs to stop putting up school zones for private schools. If people can afford to put their kids through private education; they can afford to drop them off.
