I-15 Express Lanes

I-15 Express Lanes

Yes, they are coming.  But will they really make a difference to YOU?

Well, they will if you drive from the Southern 215 to the Spaghetti Bowl without exiting- vice versa.

But, other than that probably not.  Yes, it will get some of that traffic off the highway used by those that exit along that stretch… so we’ll take anything we can get right!  The Nevada Department of Transporation has had plans for this express lane for a while… but they finally got the funding last week.

NDOT already has the room on the highway for the Express Lanes… so construtction shouldn’t affect the commute too much.   I love project like this…. because all th work can be done while most of the lanes are left open.

The lanes should be open by early 2009.

What do you think? Do you think the Express Lanes will help ease traffic congestion on the I-15?

Boo!!!! While this may work for certain people (travelers and Semi Drivers mostly) I don’t think this is a good idea. Utah had the right idea when they built carpool lanes like there are on US-95. We have the right of way, lets make carpool lanes and close the left 2 lanes to semi traffic. It worked for Salt Lake, and their freeways are about as wide as ours…

I think I15 needs 3 express lanes instead of 2 to make it work. Keep tractor-trailers separate from cars because they cause a lot of congestion on the highways. There should be a law that makes tractor- trailers stay in the 2 right lanes. Chicago has done it for years and it works. And keep to 2 lanes for local exits
