Okay… many of you LOVE the wider U.S. 95 from Rainbow to the Spaghetti Bowl.  BUT… there are always complaints about “something,” right!?

 I wanted to share some of the viewer complaints and concerns over this new stretch of road… and provide some answers.

A new back-up has formed at U.S. 95 Southbound and I-15 Southbound.

Yes, it has.  The reason… is because drivers are moving so quickly on that entire new stretch of 95… they are getting to the I-15 connection a lot faster!  For example, the vehicles are not getting stuck at Jones & Decatur… they are moving at regular speeds.  Which means means many more vehicles are now in the same place at the same time.   This is what is causing a slow transition to I-15 South.  You could exit at Valley View and take one of the surface streets eastbound to the I-15 and pass all the congestion.

Today someone asked me the most popular question I get around the holidays, “Are you going home for Christmas or Thanksgiving?” 

The answer, as always, is “no.”  I am in the television business and it’s just not feasible most holidays.  Do I feel sad? Not really.  Not because I don’t want to have Christmas morning in my parents house… and see my friends… but because of the problems I hear and see people experience when they travel. 

Delayed flights…. long security lines… weather problems… etc.

It’s all very stressful.

You can call them Carpool lanes or HOV lanes. (HOV stands for High Occupancy Vehicle)

Regardless of what they are called… you might be using one on the new U.S. 95.  For the first time, a Nevada highway will have carpool lanes.  They will open next week.    They are part of the U.S. 95 widening project from Rainbow to the Spaghetti Bowl. (more…)

Today in my special report we took a look at where we are now when it comes to the 95 Widening project. Believe it or not… the final countdown is on! The project should be complete in a couple of weeks. In fact, most of the new northbound and southbound lanes should be open by the end of THIS week!
