Let’s Make a “DRIVING” Pact
Let’s all band together and make a pact.
We will drive the speed limit, we will be courteous on the roads, we will leave extra time to get where we need to, we will use our turn signals when changing lanes, we will leave plenty of room between our car and the car in front of us, we will pay attention and stay alert, we will look both ways before crossing an intersection, and again… WE WILL SLOW DOWN.
Four more people lost their lives today because of what police are calling a "reckless driver." It happened Thursday night and shut down the I-15 near Cheyenne for about 11 hours. Thirteen vehicles were involved.
I feel like every day it’s something. So many people are dying on our roads, many of them never see it coming. Please, drive safe. Put yourself in the shoes of victim’s families. Think about the dreaded phone call they receive from police or the knock they get at their door. If we all vow to be better drivers, I bet we can save dozens and dozens of lives.
Thanks.

I own a small trucking company in the valley and have comments regarding the large accident. it concerns me that the truck driver issued comments to police through an interpreture. Fedral law states that you must hire a driver that can converse in English. Yet Nevada has non English C D L exams, Common sense tells you that a driver who is able to converse with emergency workers makes sense. Did that driver know he was in a construction zone ? It also comes to mind that when people saw a slowdown was eminent, how many cars panicked in an effort to get in front of the big truck they feel so helpless behind. All that does for the driver is shrink his already diminishing following distance. Please folks, if traffic is comming to a stop. dont cram your car in front of the big truck. You will always come out of the traffic ahead of him anyway. I also talk to comercial drivers as they dont always represent their industry in a proffessional manner. and I would like to ask a favor from our drivers. Please, when passing give us trucks at least a truck length. As you would be uncomfortable with less than a car length at freeway speeds. Sometimes I dont realize I have been passed until the car accelerates from under the shadow of the hood on my truck. it happens daily, and it is only because people dont know,I truly beleive we all care.
