A student at Palo Verde who witnessed the shooting of 15-year-old Christopher Privett told police the motivation for the shooting was retaliation.
According to the arrest report for 16-year-old Gerald Davison, one of the girls who was riding in the car with Davison and the driver, 19-year-old Ezekiel Williams, said there had been an altercation between her and the group of students including Privett. She claims the group threw gang signs at her.

The report also says that when Davison was interviewed by police, he confessed to shooting at the victims, but said his intention was to scare them after the altercation in front of the school. Privett, whose funeral is Thursday, was shot as he walked home from school on Feb. 15. The bullet passed through his friend's backpack before striking him in the chest. Two people driving by who saw Privett on the ground stopped and performed CPR until an ambulance arrived. Privett was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Eyewitness News has learned that Davison, who was arrested over the weekend, was moved from the Juvenile Detention Center to the Clark County Detention Center. He will be charged as an adult for murder and attempted murder.
“We are going to treat this defendant just like we treat other people who are in there for murder,” said District Attorney David Roger.
Williams, who was arrested Tuesday, is charged with one count of accessory to murder and three counts of accessory to attempted murder.
“There was an attempt on his part to remove some evidence we later recovered and statements we received from witnesses give us the feeling that he was a party to the crime,” said Sheriff Doug Gillespie.
