The suspected gunman, 16-year-old Gerald Davison already faces charges of murder and attempted murder. Police say Davison opened fire on 15-year-old Chris Privett from the back seat of a car while Williams was driving.
The investigation is still ongoing, but police say they have no motive and it appears to be a random shooting.
As students returned to school extra security greeted grieving students Tuesday morning. Grief counselors were also on hand to help students cope with the loss of Privett.
And while Palo Verde students were forced to face the tough reality that their friend is gone. The teenage boy accused of gunning him down faced a judge early Tuesday.
In court, Gerald Davison's parents held on to his hand. He seemed upset and cried — an emotional day for the entire family.
“We don't know what goes on with these kids. All we can do is be there pray, that's really it. That's my nephew and I'm sorry,” said Davidson's aunt.

“I've asked time and time, “What could we have done to prevent this?” and there aren't good concert answers,” said Superintendent Walt Rulffes.
The sheriff says parents should rest assured they are doing everything in their power to protect their children and their future. But he says first line of defense starts with parents at home.
“Look in the mirror. Are you interacting with your kids like you should be? Are you asking those questions? Are you walking in there rooms unexpected?” said Sheriff Doug Gillespie.
The sheriff also said that four other people were in the car at the time of the shooting. As the investigation continues those, teens could also face charges in connection with the shooting.
