The 16-year-old accused of shooting a 15-year-old Palo Verde student will be charged as an adult.

On Tuesday morning, 16-year-old Gerald Davison, with his family by his side, faced a judge for the first time since being arrested. The sophomore has been held at the Juvenile Detention Center but is expected to be transferred to the Clark County Detention Center in the near future. He is charged with shooting freshman student Christopher Privett as the teen walked home from school on Friday. Privett died of a gunshot wound to his chest.

Family members held back tears as Davison walked into the courtroom. He is charged with one count of murder and three counts of attempted murder. Davison's parents sat next to their son throughout the proceeding and even held his hand.

Because of his age, the judge did not allow Eyewitness News to show his face in court, but Davison was obviously upset. Eyewitness News did obtain a photo of Davison from his freshman year at Cimarron Memorial High School, where he attended before going to Palo Verde High School.

Davison's father asked the judge if they would consider letting the teen stay at the Juvenile Detention Center but the judge said that would be up to a justice of the peace to decide.

Davison's parents did give him a hug good-bye as they left the court and expressed sympathy for the victim and his family.

“All we can say is he's a good boy. All we can say is we are sorry right now.”

The District Attorney's office has not said when they will be putting in their paperwork to have Davison transported to the detention center, but the judge's office expects it to be sometime this week.
