A young girl is dead and a man hospitalized with cuts on his arm after a dispute at an RV park Wednesday afternoon. The man has since been arrested — he's 54-year-old William Redman and police tell Eyewitness News he is the girl's father.

The incident happened at the Roadrunner RV Park on Boulder Highway north of Flamingo around noon on Wednesday. Eyewitness News was told it was a very graphic crime scene.

Police say there were called to the home by the victim's mother. The girl was found dead, with knife wounds on her neck, inside the RV where she lived. Although police will not confirm her age, neighbors tell Eyewitness News that she is 12-years-old.

Redman was found outside the RV when police arrived. He was suffering from cuts on his arms.

Neighbors said the man was mentally challenged and worked painting cars for the carnival. The family mostly kept to themselves, but we're told the girl played with all the children in the park.

“My daughter swims with her. Two daughters swim with her over the summer. Just a sweet heart of a little girl,” said Mark Ward, a neighbor.

Police say they lived there less than a year. Although Redman is under arrest, he is currently in the hospital. This investigation is still developing, we'll have more information for you tonight on Eyewitness News at 11.

  4. I only knew the young girl briefly, but what a sweet child she was. Open, caring, funny and had a great sense of humor… I enjoyed being with her and others there at the park… She will be greatly missed.
My heartfelt sympathy to her family and close friends.

  10. I am Gloria’s cousin and I will never be able to understand how someone would take the very life he helped create. She was so young and hadn’t even begun to live her life…she was always an angel but now she has her wings. She is in heaven with our grandparents and our Lord. She will be grately missed and will be in our hearts forever. May the Lord watch over my aunt and her sons…they need him now more than ever.

  15. I am the
father of one of the “1st on scene firemen”….
It was devastating! I cannot discuss this with my son! He is a 12 year veteran, and still very shook up. Firemen never know, what is at the end of the 911 call…….

  17. We give our love and well wishes.

May we inquire as to the “Jehovah” connection that her father stated to the 911 operator?

    Sincerely

Everyone always has nice things to say about her..

I don’t think her dear family will ever quite be the same.
I love the Redmans very much, and always keep them in my prayers.

    Love,
    A family friend.
