For the second time in three days, thick black smoke filled the Las Vegas Valley sky.
The two-alarm fire that started in North Las Vegas was contained Friday afternoon. It happened at the Main Gate Auto Wrecking Company. The area is near Nellis Air Force Base and I-15 is home to a number of wrecking companies and industrial warehouses.
About 50 firefighters from Clark County and North Las Vegas were delayed for several minutes because water hydrants were hundreds of feet away.
Eyewitnesses say a row of cars quickly caught fire and spread to other junk cars.
Air quality crews will investigate the sight to see if any contamination spread through the area.
The cause is still under investigation.
