June 5, 2008 - 7200 Block of West Mesa Vista

ois_suspect_180.jpgOn the morning of June 5, Metro Police Officers responded to a call of shots fired at the Penthouse Gentlemen’s Club. Officers learned that the suspect, later identified as Dominic Nieto was driving a black Hummer H-3 and had fled the scene.

An officer in the area spotted the vehicle at Russell and Rainbow. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but the suspect fled into a residential area. During the pursuit Nieto lost control of the vehicle and rolled into a desert area near Durango High School.

As Officer Blake Penny approached the vehicle, Nieto opened the driver’s side door, stood up and fired multiple rounds at him, striking him in the right leg. Penny returned fire at Nieto, hitting him. After firing shots at the officer, Nieto ducked back inside his vehicle and refused to come out. Officer Penny was rescued by other arriving units.

Since Nieto refused come out of his vehicle, the Metro SWAT Unit was called to the scene. SWAT was able to approach the vehicle, where they discovered Nieto deceased inside.

Officer Penny was transported to the hospital, where he underwent successful surgery and is recovering.

 
May 30, 2008 - 9300 Block of Pineneedle Ridge

Police are investigating the shooting death of 31-year-old Adofo Thomas. No other details are avilable.

 
May 17, 2008 - 3600 Block of Kolendo Court
Monday, May 19th, 2008

On the night of May 17, Metro Police responded to Kolendo Court after getting calls of several shots being fired in the area. When officers arrived, they found three men suffering from multiple gunshots wounds.

Two of the victims were transported to UMC. One of the men, 25-year-old Jose Gurrero, was pronounced dead at the hospital. The second victim was treated and released and a third victim was transported to Spring Valley hospital with minor injuries.

Homicide detectives were called to the scene and determined that the victims were hanging out near a vehicle on Kolendo court, when a black Honda turned onto the street and passed them.

The suspect vehicle made a u-turn and headed towards the victims. At least one of passengers began yelling gang slang towards the victims. The occupants of the vehicle then opened fire at the
victims, striking all three.

The vehicle then fled the area in an unknown direction. The suspect vehicle is described as a black Honda Accord with tinted windows and a white bumper.

 
April 28, 2008 - 9300 Block of West Tropicana

kid.jpgMetro Homicide detectives are investigating the apparent murder of 17-year-old Joseph Lopez. His body was found Monday night inside of a storm drain.

Construction workers putting up traffic control barricades in the area of I-215 and West Tropicana first found they believed to be a jersey inside the storm drain. Upon closer examination, they
found the victim and called police.

Medical units were called and Lopez was determined to be deceased.

Homicide investigators believe the victim may have been involved in an altercation a short time before the discovery of the body, and was possibly chased inside the storm drain where he was killed by multiple gunshot wounds.

April 10, 2008 - Pebble Road and Riley Street
Monday, April 14th, 2008

On the night of April 10, the Clark County Fire Department contacted the Metro Police Communications Center and reported that they had been called to a fire in a construction site near the intersection of Pebble and Riley in southwest Las Vegas.

Firefighters located the fire and discovered that a deceased human body was on fire.

Officers were dispatched and determined that the body was that of an African-American female, later identified as 37-year-old Sabrina King. Police say she had severe head injuries.

Homicide detectives responded to the scene. An abandoned vehicle was located near the crime scene. The vehicle was registered to King, who was reported missing by family members. King’s family also said that her ex-husband, 29-year-old Andre James King, recently had harsh dealings with her.

Andre King was arrested on April 11, 2008 for Murder and Home Invasion and booked into the Clark County Detention Center, where he is being held without bail.

 
March 21, 2008 - 100 Block of Crooked Putter Drive
Monday, March 24th, 2008

On March 21st, a citizen reported that a woman had been murdered inside a house on Crooked Putter Drive in southwest Las Vegas. Metro patrol officers responded and found a female dead inside the home.

Homicide detectives were called and discovered that the female, later identified as 36-year-old Amy Marie Trujillo, had been shot.

The investigation identified another occupant of the house, 29-year-old Joehl David Jackowski, as a suspect in the shooting. He was arrested on March 22, 2008 for murder with a deadly weapon.

Jackowski, also known as Devon Theus, is currently being held without bail at the Clark County Detention Center.

 
March 19, 2008 - 4500 Block of Prada Place
Thursday, March 20th, 2008

On March 19, Metro officers responded to a report of a vehicle that had been parked in the same place for a few days.

Officers arrived and discovered a white male inside the back portion of the vehicle. Medical personnel responded and officers had to break a window to get into the vehicle. The victim was deceased.

Homicide detectives responded to the scene. The victim, 62-year-old Heinz Wietfeldt, had been reported missing Tuesday, March 18th by a friend.

He was found inside his white Cadillac Escalade. His hands and feet were bound.

During the course of the investigation, Homicide detectives identified two suspects, 27-year-old Kenneth Thomas and 27-year-old David Jones, for the death of Wietfeldt.

Both men were booked into the Clark County Detention Center and charged with one count each of murder with use of a deadly weapon with a victim over 60, kidnaping with use of a deadly weapon, robbery with use of deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit murder, conspiracy to commit robbery and conspiracy to commit kidnaping.

Detectives have determined Wietfeldt was shot by thesuspects during a robbery. The suspects then placed his body in the back of the Cadillac Escalade and drove the victim’s vehicle to Southern
Highlands where it remained parked there until it was discovered on March 19th.

 
February 20, 2008 - 9400 Block of Forbes Field Court
Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

home_invasion_2_180.jpgJust after midnight on February 20, 2008, Metro Police got a 911 call reporting a home invasion in the 9400 block of Forbes Field Court. The caller said a man had been shot.

Patrol officers arrived and found a 27-year-old male, identified as Robert Turner, deceased from gunshot wounds. Homicide detectives were called and began investigating.

They found that a female arrived at the home just before midnight. She was confronted by two black male adults, both in their 20’s, wearing dark clothing. Those men forced her into the house at gunpoint.

A short time later, the male resident and another female entered the house. A confrontation ensued, and the male victim was shot.

Police say the two suspects were seen running away from the house. Officers believe robbery was the motive but do not believe this robbery is part of a series.

January 28, 2008 - 7300 Block of Empress Drive
Tuesday, February 5th, 2008

On January 27, 2008, Metro officers were called to the 7300 block of Empress Drive to investigate a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found a man, identified as 20-year-old George Holly, shot in his car. 

Holly was transported to UMC and was pronounced dead on the 28th.

Homicide detectives were called to the scene and began investigating. The investigation revealed that Holly and 19-year-old David Land were pursuing the same woman.

David Land was questioned in the shooting and taken into custody. He has been charged with murder with a deadly weapon, attempted murder with a deadly weapon, discharging a firearm at a structure, ex-felon in possession of a firearm and felony aggravated stalking.
