May 3, 2009 — 9300 Block of West Tropicana

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009

On the morning of May 3, 2009, Metro Officers responded to a fight at a restaurant. Police found 26-year-old Earnest Allen inside a vehicle with multiple stab wounds. Allen was transported to the UMC Trauma where he later died.

The investigation found that six friends were at the restaurant eating when they began to argue with each other. A fight broke out between the friends, and Juan Carlos Paula pulled out a knife and stabbed Allen and two others.

Officers took Paula into custody and charged him with one count of murder with a deadly weapon, two counts of attempted murder with a deadly weapon, and two counts of battery with a deadly weapon with substantial bodily harm.

The two other victims were later located at Southern Hills Hospital and Sunrise Hospital. They are expected to recover from their injuries.

April 16, 2009 — 6800 Block of Endora

On the morning of April 16, 2009, Metro Officers responded to a shots fired call near Rainbow and Sahara. When they arrived, officers encountered 48-year-old Tracy Petkovich standing in the doorway of the home holding a gun.

Officers were able to take Petkovich into custody without incident and then entered the home where they found 54-year-old Douglas Teed dead from gunshot wounds.

After an investigation, Homicide Detectives arrested Petkovich for murder with use of a deadly weapon. Petkovich was transported to the Clark County Detention Center and booked.

February 20, 2009 — 6300 Block of Humus Ave

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

On the night of February 20, 2009, Metro Officers got a call that a man had stabbed his ex-wife. When officers arrived, they found 40-year-old Janet Nual at the scene with multiple stab wounds.

Nual was transported to UMC Trauma where she later died.

Police arrested Nual’s ex-husband, 50-year-old Edwin Magbanua, for one count of murder with a deadly weapon.

December 30, 2008 – 8000 Block of Wards Ferry

Monday, January 5th, 2009

On the afternoon of December 30, 2008, Metro Officers responded to a call of a man found
dead inside a house. Officers found 30-year-old Abraham Harley inside the home dead from a gunshot wound.

Detectives do not have any suspects, but Harley’s 2001 silver Lexus was missing from the home. The car has the Nevada license plate number 981-VKW.

November 11, 2008 – Desert Area near Blue Diamond and Fort Apache

Police are investigating the shooting death of 26-year-old Kristin Cicali. She was found in a burned out Cadillac in a desert area near Fort Apache and Blue Diamond.

Cicali was one of two bodies found in the car. The second has not been identified. No other details have been released.

November 13, 2008 – 8700 Block of Ashley Park

Monday, January 5th, 2009

Police are investigating the death of 31-year-old Kimberly Long. Long was beaten to death with a hammer on the morning of November 13, 2008.

Police arrested 61-year-old Edward Preciado-Nuno, a retired FBI agent from San Diego. He is charged with the murder Long. She was his son’s girlfriend.

October 8, 2008 – 6300 block of Haleh Avenue

Monday, October 13th, 2008

On the morning of October 8, 61-year-old Raymarie Brown called 911 asking for help, saying she had been stabbed. Metro Officers responded to the scene and found her deceased inside a home. She had been stabbed multiple times.

Homicide detectives responded and the investigation lead to the arrest of the victim’s 27-year-old son, Garrick Brown, who lived with at the house with his mother. Brown arrested for murder with a deadly weapon. He is being held without bail in the Clark County Detention Center.

September 26, 2008 – 5300 Block of Retablo

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

On the night of September 26, Metro Officers responded to the 5300 block of Retablo Street after getting reports of shots fired and a man down in the street. When officers arrived, they found 29-year-old Jhon Castano suffering from a single gunshot wound to the stomach.

Castano was transported to UMC Trauma where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Homicide Detectives were called to the scene and have determined that there was a disturbance between Castano and the suspects that resulted in his death.

Witnesses say two Latin male adults fled the scene in a 1991 Chevy truck with Nevada license plates. The vehicle is described as being lowered with blue and white graphics on the side.

July 24, 2008 – 4900 Block of West Moberly

On the night of July 24, Metro Police received a 911 call from a woman reporting that a man had been shot inside her home. Officers responded to the house and found 31-year-old Bernard Williams dead from a gunshot wound to the head.

An investigation by Metro Homicide Detectives revealed that three men, one armed with a handgun and one armed with a knife, entered the home and demanded drugs and money from the occupants. Witnesses said the suspects believed drugs were being sold at the residence.

After receiving an unknown amount of money, one of the suspects shot Williams in the head and then left the scene. No vehicle was seen.

June 5, 2008 – 7200 Block of West Mesa Vista

ois_suspect_180.jpgOn the morning of June 5, Metro Police Officers responded to a call of shots fired at the Penthouse Gentlemen’s Club. Officers learned that the suspect, later identified as Dominic Nieto was driving a black Hummer H-3 and had fled the scene.

An officer in the area spotted the vehicle at Russell and Rainbow. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but the suspect fled into a residential area. During the pursuit Nieto lost control of the vehicle and rolled into a desert area near Durango High School.

As Officer Blake Penny approached the vehicle, Nieto opened the driver’s side door, stood up and fired multiple rounds at him, striking him in the right leg. Penny returned fire at Nieto, hitting him. After firing shots at the officer, Nieto ducked back inside his vehicle and refused to come out. Officer Penny was rescued by other arriving units.

Since Nieto refused come out of his vehicle, the Metro SWAT Unit was called to the scene. SWAT was able to approach the vehicle, where they discovered Nieto deceased inside.

Officer Penny was transported to the hospital, where he underwent successful surgery and is recovering.
