December 16, 2008 – Martin Luther King and Owens

On the morning of December 16, officers responded to the area of Martin Luther King and Owens after 48-year-old Michael McDaniels was shot while sitting in his vehicle in traffic.

Officers found McDaniels still in his car with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to University Medical Center where he later died.

According to witnesses, McDaniels was waiting to go west on Owens, when another man, also stuck in traffic, got out of a white Chevrolet Malibu, walked up to McDaniel’s car and fired multiple rounds into the drivers seat.

The suspect then calmly walked back to his vehicle and made a u-turn eastbound on Owens and fled the scene.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at 385-5555 or the LVMPD Homicide Section at 828-3521.
