December 31, 2008 – 4100 block of Montdale Avenue

On the afternoon of December 31, 2008, Metro Officers responded to a stabbing near Lamb and Desert Inn. Officers arrived at the scene and found 46-year-old Dennis Borero lying in a driveway deceased from a stab wound to the neck.

Police say there was a disturbance between Borero and suspect which resulted in the stabbing. The suspect is possibly a homeless man known to frequent the area.

December 30, 2008 – 8000 Block of Wards Ferry

On the afternoon of December 30, 2008, Metro Officers responded to a call of a man found
dead inside a house. Officers found 30-year-old Abraham Harley inside the home dead from a gunshot wound.

Detectives do not have any suspects, but Harley’s 2001 silver Lexus was missing from the home. The car has the Nevada license plate number 981-VKW.

December 30, 2008 – 600 Block of Bonanza

On the morning of December 30, 2008, Metro responded to the Siegel Suites after getting a report of a stabbing inside an apartment.

Officers arrived and found 59-year-old Daniel Boykins dead inside. Detectives determined that the stabbing happened during an alleged domestic dispute.

48-year-old Beverly Boykins was arrested for murder with a deadly weapon and booked into the Clark County Detention Center where she is being held without bail.

December 25, 2008 – 9700 Block of Running Rabbit

On the morning of December 25, 2008, Metro Officers responded to a shooting in the 9700 block of Running Rabbit. When they arrived, officers found 50-year-old John McCallum suffering from a gunshot wound to the stomach.

He was transported to UMC Trauma, where he died several hours later.

Arriving officers were also able to catch a suspect in the shooting. 24-year-old Edward Jones was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Clark County Detention Center where he was booked for murder with a deadly weapon.

Police say the shooting may have been prompted by a neighborhood traffic dispute.

December 22, 2008 – 700 block of Solitude Point Avenue

Henderson Police are investigating the death of 32-year-old Matthew Cox. He was found dead in his home on December 22, 2008 near Horizon Ridge and Gibson.

Police say a friend went over to the house to care for Cox’s pets, as he was scheduled to be out of town. The friend found Cox unresponsive and called 911. Rescue workers arrived and found Cox was dead from blunt force trauma and neck injuries.

Henderson Police arrested two suspects in connection with the slaying. 18-year-old Jose Delatorre and a 17-year-old man were arrested and charged with murder, robbery and burglary.

Delatorre was booked into the Henderson Jail and the 17-year-old was booked into the Clark County Juvenile Detention Center.

Cox was a music teacher at Basic High School and taught the suspects. They are accused of beating and choking Cox and stealing electronics from his home and taking his car.

December 18, 2008 – 1800 Block of J Street

Monday, January 5th, 2009

On the night of December 18, Metro Officers responded to the 1800 block of J street after getting a call of a man shot in the area. Officers found 24-year-old Albert Cobb, Jr. dead inside an apartment.

Witnesses tell police Cobb was inside of his apartment with several other men when a fight ensued. One of the men involved in the fight pulled out a handgun and shot Cobb.

The men then fled the scene.

December 16, 2008 – Martin Luther King and Owens

On the morning of December 16, officers responded to the area of Martin Luther King and Owens after 48-year-old Michael McDaniels was shot while sitting in his vehicle in traffic.

Officers found McDaniels still in his car with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to University Medical Center where he later died.

According to witnesses, McDaniels was waiting to go west on Owens, when another man, also stuck in traffic, got out of a white Chevrolet Malibu, walked up to McDaniel’s car and fired multiple rounds into the drivers seat.

The suspect then calmly walked back to his vehicle and made a u-turn eastbound on Owens and fled the scene.

December 9, 2008 – 3600 Block of Boulder Highway

On the morning of December 9, 2008, a person called 911 and reported concerns about the welfare of two elderly women who lived in a home at King’s Row Trailer Park. The caller said that she had received a disturbing piece of mail from them and could not contact them.

Metro Officers responded to the area. Upon entering the home, officers discovered 65-year-old Jeannie Twigg uninjured and 72-year-old Elizabeth Kinch deceased.

Homicide detectives investigated and found that Kinch had been shot. Jeannie Twigg was arrested for murder with a deadly weapon and booked into the Clark County Detention
Center without bail.

November 27, 2008 – 4800 Block of Summerhill Avenue

Monday, January 5th, 2009

On the morning of November 27, 2008, Metro Officers were called to conduct a welfare check at a home on Summerhill Avenue on the east side of Las Vegas.

Officers entered the home and found a woman, later identified as 59-year-old Susan Levin, and a man dead from gunshot wounds to the head. Homicide detectives were contacted and believe this incident is a murder/suicide.

The couple were husband and wife and have lived at the home for several years.

November 11, 2008 – Desert Area near Blue Diamond and Fort Apache

Monday, January 5th, 2009

Police are investigating the shooting death of 26-year-old Kristin Cicali. She was found in a burned out Cadillac in a desert area near Fort Apache and Blue Diamond.

Cicali was one of two bodies found in the car. The second has not been identified. No other details have been released.
