October 8, 2008 – 200 Block of Hinkle

On the afternoon of October 8, Metro patrol officers responded to a 911 call of a person being stabbed. When officers arrived, they found 17-year-old Richard Martinez suffering from a stab wound. He was transported to UMC where he later died.

Homicide detectives were called to conduct a follow-up investigation. Detectives learned that Martinez and the suspect, later identified as 16-year-old Steven Hogue, were involved in an argument when Steven pulled out a knife and stabbed Martinez several times.

An arrest warrant for murder with a deadly weapon was issued for Hogue.

Hogue surrendered at the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Plaza Desk on October 9, 2008. He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center.
