On the afternoon of July 11, Metro Police Dispatch got a call that two gunshot victims had driven in to St. Rose Siena Hospital in Henderson.
Both victims were transported to UMC Trauma. 20-year-old Joseph Masi died from a gunshot wound to the head. 19-year-old Ronald Richards was treated and released.
Homicide Detectives were called to investigate. They found the two victims were being chased by a man with a gun driving a small white convertible. They fled to the area of Flamingo and I-215 where the man fired at Masi and Richards, striking both of them.
Richards and Masi then fled to the area of Tropicana and Ft. Apache, pulled behind a business and Richards was seen dropping a large bag into a dumpster before driving to the hospital.
The bag was recovered by police. Officers say it held large amounts marijuana and believe the shooting is drug related.
Richards was arrested for possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and booked at the Clark County Detention Center after his release from UMC.
Police issued a warrant Jeffrey Yonck for murder with a deadly weapon and two counts of attempt murder with a deadly weapon. The car Yonck drove during the murder has been recovered. He is believed to have fled the Las Vegas area.
I knew Ron & Joey and they are/were bad people! This was not the first time they did something like this. I know its a horrible thing to say, but the streets are safer now! I hope their other friends go down as well. The crime around the Silverado Ranch area has gone down, and its once again semi-safe.

The comment from no thanks is ridiculous, Ron & Joey may had made some mistakes in life, but how dare you. Joey left a family behind. Do you think the choices he made realyy warranted the DEATH PENALTY. If you think that the area is now “semi-safe” because they are no longer around, you are really as stupid as you sound. Why don’t you keep your rudecomments to yourself. Who is the horrible person sying such a thing when you know their families may come across this?

I knew Joey, but not Ron. Joey wasn’t really a bad kid, he just made some really stupid mistakes and unfortunately, they cost him his life. As far s the streets being safer, I don’t agree. I’m not from here, but I can tell you the crime rate here is really ridiculous. No matter what, no one, especially not someone so young deserves to lose their life at such a young age, no matter how it happened. Anyway, R.I.P. Joey, and good luck to anyone else that was involved. All I have to say is bring the shooter to justice and make him pay with his life like Joey did!!!
