On the night of August 3, a Metro Gang Sergeant and Detective were investigating gang activity in the 3700 block of Shirebrook Drive.

Police say the two officers were talking to 24-year-old Anthony Davis, who began walking away from them while reaching into his waistband. Police say Davis then pulled out a handgun, and both attempted to disarm him.

Why List People Killed by Police?

Davis fired his gun one time during the struggle and the sergeant fired his gun one time, striking him. Davis was transported to UMC Trauma where he was pronounced dead.

The sergeant and detective were not injured. Metro Homicide Detectives are investigating.
