April 26, 2008 - 4000 Block of Tully
Monday, April 28th, 2008

On the night of April 26 Metro officers responded to reports of shots being fired in the 4000 block of Tully street. When they arrived, they found three people shot. 22-year-old Tyrence Anglo Dunson was deceased in the street.

The remaining two victims were transported to UMC where one was treated for a gunshot wound to the left ankle and the other for gunshot wounds to the back.

Both of the victims are expected to make a full recovery.

Homicide detectives were called to the scene and have determined that the victims were headed to a party in the area, when they were confronted by three to four black male adults driving a gold Hyundai.

The occupants of the vehicle yelled out gang propaganda and began firing at the victims. The vehicle then fled in an unknown direction.

April 24, 2008 - Pringle Way and SR 157
Friday, April 25th, 2008

trunk_body_180.jpgOn April 24, 2008, Metro Resident Officers were notified of a brown, 2002 Ford Escort abandoned since April 22nd on Pringle Way and SR 157 on Mt. Charleston. Officers responded to the scene and found the body of 51-year-old Salvador Gonzalez inside the car’s trunk.

Homicide detectives responded and the investigation revealed Gonzalez had been reported missing by family in the early evening hours of Monday, April 21st.

Police say Gonzalez had obvious sharp force injuries.

Gonzalez was last seen driving his Ford Escort in the area of Valley View and Charleston on Monday, April 21st.

April 11, 2008 - 11th Street and Fremont Street
Monday, April 14th, 2008

On the night of April 11, a 911 call reporting shots fired and a female down at 11th and Fremont was made. Patrol officers arrived and found a 47-year-old female, later identified as Twila Naomi Cline, deceased with a gunshot wound.

Homicide detectives were called and determined Cline was standing on the sidewalk on 11th Street when a faded blue sedan with tinted windows driving south pulled up to the curb.

A short conversation took place and she was shot. The blue vehicle was last seen traveling east on Fremont Street.

April 10, 2008 - Pebble Road and Riley Street
Monday, April 14th, 2008

On the night of April 10, the Clark County Fire Department contacted the Metro Police Communications Center and reported that they had been called to a fire in a construction site near the intersection of Pebble and Riley in southwest Las Vegas.

Firefighters located the fire and discovered that a deceased human body was on fire.

Officers were dispatched and determined that the body was that of an African-American female, later identified as 37-year-old Sabrina King. Police say she had severe head injuries.

Homicide detectives responded to the scene. An abandoned vehicle was located near the crime scene. The vehicle was registered to King, who was reported missing by family members. King’s family also said that her ex-husband, 29-year-old Andre James King, recently had harsh dealings with her.

Andre King was arrested on April 11, 2008 for Murder and Home Invasion and booked into the Clark County Detention Center, where he is being held without bail.

 
April 9, 2008 - US-95 and Silverline Road
Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

mom.jpgOn April 6, 2008, Metro Officers responded to a missing person call after a 14-year-old reported her mother, 32-year-old Edith Calderon, missing under suspicious circumstances.

Detectives from the Missing Persons Detail were called to the scene and began investigating. During the investigation, detectives found that Calderon went to Sunrise Hospital to visit her current boyfriend, who was a patient. She left the hospital and appeared on surveillance video at a fast food restaurant. She was never seen again. 

Detectives contacted a former boyfriend, 28-year-old Gonzalo Tejada-Rivas. While interviewing Tejada-Rivas, Missing Persons detectives found Calderon’s vehicle parked on the street near the intersection of Lisbon Avenue and Rome Street.

Homicide detectives were notified and responded to assist the Missing Persons detectives.

On April 9, 2008, detectives went to the desert area near US-95 and Silverline Road, where the body of a female, believed to be Calderon, was located.

Gonzalo Tejada-Rivas will be booked into the Clark County Detention Center, charged with one count of Murder and one count of Kidnapping.  

Calderon leaves behind four young children who have been placed in protective custody.

 
April 2, 2008 - 2000 Block of North Nellis
Monday, April 7th, 2008

On April 2, 2008 Metro dispatch got a 911 call reporting shots fired at an apartment complex on North Nellis. Patrol officers found a man, later identified as 42-year-old Anthony Davis, on a sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the head. Davis was transported to UMC Trauma where he later died.

Homicide detectives responded and the investigation revealed Davis was seen arguing just before the gunshots with another man, later identified as 38-year-old Dennis Marc Grigsby.

On April 4, 2008, an arrest warrant was issued for Grigsby charging him with one count of Murder with a Deadly Weapon. Grigsby is 5′7″, approximately 180 lbs and has short black hair.

He was last seen driving a white 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt, with Nevada license plate 151UMV. Grigsby is believed to be armed with a handgun and should be considered armed and dangerous.

April 6, 2008 - 500 Block of North Circle
Monday, April 7th, 2008

On April 6, 2008, Metro Officers saw a male walking near the intersection of Palos Verde and Frederika. According to police, the man, later identified as 31-year-old Juan Apariciopara, appeared despondent and was holding a jacket up to his neck as if he was injured.

The officers stopped Apariciopara to see if he needed help. Apariciopara told officers he had just killed his girlfriend and tried to run away. When the officers tried to detain him, he started to cut his own throat with a box cutter. A violet struggle took place as the officers fought to prevent the man from committing suicide, with another officer using his Taser to subdue the suspect.

One officer was cut on the hand with the box cutter, and was later treated and released. Apariciopara was transported to Sunrise Hospital Trauma, where he was admitted in serious condition with multiple incised wounds to his neck.

Officer’s checked his apartment in the 500 block of North Circle, and found a deceased male, later identified as Edwin Rodriguez, with obvious sharp force injury. The girlfriend was located uninjuried.

A preliminary investigation by Homicide detectives indicated Apariciopara became upset when he discovered his girlfriend having sex with his roommate. A fight ensued and Apariciopara killed Rodriguez.

Apariciopara was booked in absentia at the Clark County Detention Center for murder with a deadly weapon, battery on a police officer with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest with a deadly weapon.

 
April 4, 2008 - 800 Block of West Lake Mead
Monday, April 7th, 2008

On April 4, 2008 Metro dispatch got a 911 call reporting a person shot at the 7 Seas Lounge on west Lake Mead Boulevard. When patrol officers arrived, they discovered a male, later identified as 26-years-old Alphonso Jameen Green, outside the south entrance of the business suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Green was transported to UMC Trauma, where he later died.

Homicide detectives were called to the scene. Their investigation revealed the victim was seen arguing with other patrons and was leaving the business when gunshots were fired.

The suspect was initially described as wearing a green and white shirt, however the investigation revealed the suspect was a black male adult, in his late 20s or early 30s, about 5′8″ to 6′ tall, about 180 pounds, either bald or having very short black hair, wearing a bark blue jacket, a red and white shirt, dark colored jeans and armed with a small handgun.

He was last seen running west from the business.

January 4, 2008 - I-15 near Russell Road
Tuesday, April 1st, 2008

33-year-old Ryan Rich died after struggling with NHP Troopers on Jan. 4. It happened on I-15 near Russell Road.

Police say they received reports of several hit and run accidents on southbound I-15. When NHP arrived, they say Rick struggled violently with the trooper and tried to run into oncoming traffic.

The trooper, along with the help of a passing motorist, subdued the man with a Taser. Rick was taken to the hospital where he later died.
