March 29, 2008 – 4200 Block of East Craig
On Saturday March 29 at about 8:00 a.m., North Las Vegas Police officers were called to the Juke Joint bar after reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found two victims inside a vehicle suffering from gun shot wounds in the rear parking lot of the bar.
The male driver, later identified as Anthony Wight, was pronounced dead at the scene and the female passenger was taken to UMC in extremely critical condition.
Metro Police officers were in the area at the time of the shooting and caught the suspect, Charles Garner III, walking on a street one block west from the shooting scene. He was arrested for murder and attempt murder.
Homicide Detectives are still investigating this incident.

YOU ASKED WHY HE WOULD DO THIS TO HIS WIFE AND KIDS? I HAVE TO ASK WHY HE DID THIS TO MY SON WHO WAS WITH HER? HE AND THE LADY WERE DIVORCED AND SHE HAD AN ORDER OF PROTECTION WHICH SUGGESTS THAT SHE WAS AFRAID OF HIM WHICH SUGGESTS HE HAD BEEN VIOLENT WITH HER IN THE PAST. STATISTICES TELL US MOST WOMEN ARE KILLED BY THEIR ABUSIVE SPOUSES WHEN THEY ARE LEAVING THEM. WHY WOULD ANYONE DO ANYTHING ESLE? TO STAY MAKES NO SENSE AT ALL. THIS POOR WOMAN IS DAMAGED FOR THE REST OF HER LIFE AND MOST LIKELY THE TWO CHILDREN WILL BE RAISED BY HIS FAMILY. NOT JUSTICE BUT THEN WHERE DO WE GET JUSTICE TODAY. NOTHING WILL BRING MY SON BACK, I WILL NEVER PICK UP THE PHONE AND HEAR HIS VOICE, I HAVE NO HOPE OF THAT SO HE KILLED MORE THAN MY BOY, HE KILLED A PART OF ALL THOSE WHO LOVED HIM, HE TOOK SOMETHING PRECIOUS AWAY FROM ALL OF US AND SNUFFED OUT A LIFE THAT WAS MAGICAL AND ONLY JUST BEGINNING. DEATH IS TOO GOOD FOR THIS MAN BUT TO JUST LOCK HIM UP IS NOT RIGHT EITHER, THERE IS NO SENTENCE THAT CAN UNDO HIS EVIL ACT. AN ACT THAT NO MATTER WHAT THE COURT DOES WILL LEAVE THREE CHILDREN PARENTLESS AND THREE FAMILIES BROKEN HEARTED.
