March 28, 2008 – 100 Block of North Nellis

keyframe17.jpgOn March 28, 2008 at about 8:20 p.m., Metro dispatch received a 911 call reporting a female who was shot in her car at Charleston and Nellis. Patrol officers responded and found 39-year-old Blanca Gonzalez with a gunshot wound to the head. She was transported to UMC Trauma where she later died.

Detectives responded to the scene. The investigation determined that Gonzalez and her 2 children,
ages 11 and 15, were stopped at a red light on Nellis at Charleston. A light colored, mid 90’s Buick four door sedan was also stopped next to the victims’ vehicle, waiting to turn on to Charleston. The Buick was occupied by two black males in the front, two black males in the rear and a black female inbetween the two males in the back.

One of the males in the Buick fired a handgun, breaking out a passenger side window of the Buick, with the bullet striking Gonzalez. The Buick quickly made a u-turn and was last seen heading south on Nellis.

The victim’s vehicle then rolled into the intersection and struck a truck turning east on Charleston. The driver of the truck was not injured.
