Cold Case – Cynthia Oquist

homicide_oquist_suspect.jpgOn February 6, 1998, Cynthia Oquist’s body was found by a homeless person in a desert area southeast of Vegas Valley and the Las Vegas Wash. The homeless man went to a nearby store where he found a Metro Officer and reported his discovery.

Investigators arrived and began their investigation. Police say Cynthia had been left in the area for three to five days.

She was initially unidentified but identification was made by fingerprints at the time of the autopsy. The medical examiner determined the cause of death to be from blunt force trauma and strangulation.

Investigators learned that Cynthia was last seen in the downtown Las Vegas area working as a prostitute.

A suspect composite was provided by another prostitute who was the victim of an attempt murder. Investigators believe the suspect may be responsible for the murder of Cynthia.
