Efrain Morales

On March 22, 2012, 30-year-old Efrain Morales was shot at killed in the 500 block of North 13th Street.

According to police, a property manager saw blood outside of Morales’ home and called officers. There has been no update into his murder.

Morales’ obituary reads, “Simply stated, Efrain was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Efrain leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories.”

Demarcus Carter

A Summerlin man will not be charged for taking the law into his own hands when he shot and killed a man attempting to break into his home.

The Clark County District Attorney decided the homeowner shot 19-year-old Demarcus Carter in self-defense last month. Carter was killed in the home’s backyard near Hualapai Way and Sahara Avenue.

The resident believed Carter was trying to break into his home. Carter died after being shot multiple times.

David Roswell Lemay

On March 19, 2012 29-year-old David Roswell Lemay died at Sunrise Hospital after being shot several times. He was shot near Sahara Avenue and Paradise Road.

Police later arrested 31-year-olds Lee Reed and Donzell Williams after a high-speed chase.

Willis Adam Clark, III

On March 18, 2012, 21-year-old Willis Adam Clark, III died at University Medical Center after being shot in the torso. No other details about his death have been released.

Kyla Frank

Six-year-old Kyla Frank was killed on March 12, 2012 after allegedly being stabbed by her mother with a pair of scissors.

Metro Police received a 911 call that a naked woman covered in blood was running in an area near Jones Boulevard and Vegas Drive. The woman, who was later identified as 27-year-old Danielle Slaughter, was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

About three hours later, a person who lives in Slaughter’s home on Palmae Street found the body of Slaughter’s daughter.

Police believe Slaughter murdered her daughter and then ran almost two miles from her home.

“We know the mother had some sort of mental breakdown to where she repeatedly stabbed that child with what we believe to be scissors,” said Lt. Ray Steiber, Metro Police.

She is charged with one count of murder with a deadly weapon. Slaughter is being held at Clark County Detention Center. Police say, Slaughter had no previous run-ins with law enforcement.

Wallace David Zarza

Three teens have been charged in the robbery and murder of an auto salvage worker. Police say 44-year-old Wallace David Zarza was shot to death after being lured to a northwest Las Vegas neighborhood thinking he was buying two cars.

Court records show that Jourdon Foger Holmes faces murder, robbery and conspiracy charges in the March 1 slaying. Holmes turned 18 a week after Zarza was found shot dead on Ellingson Drive.

An aide to Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson says 15-year-old Tyler John Ashley is facing similar charges as an adult, along with co-defendant Daniel Jarod Goodman. Goodman is 18. He was arrested March 8 at Bonanza High School.

Jimmy Dewayne Black

On February 27, 2012 56-year-old Jimmy Dewayne Black died at University Medical Center from blunt force injuries. No other details about his death have been released.

James Michael Lacella

What initially appeared to be a fatal fire in a condo may have been an attempt to cover up a crime.

Police have arrested 42-year-old Patrick Wilcock who is now facing robbery and murder charges in the death of 49-year-old James Michael Lacella.

Lacella’s body was discovered on February 25 in condo fire on Del Mar Street, near Harmon Avenue and Maryland Parkway. A coroner’s report determined that Lacella died from a gunshot wound to the head. It was also concluded that Lacella was likely killed a week before the fire.

According to the arrest report, Wilcock allegedly stole several items from Lacella’s home and pawned them.

Frankie Wiest

Eighteen-year-old Frankie Wiest was shot and killed in a garage on February 15, 2012 and police have arrested 33-year-old Mario Camacho for the murder.

Camacho has also been charged with first degree kidnapping with a deadly weapon and a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. Thirty-seven-year-old Eric Robinson has also been arrested for the murder.

Detectives say he shot two people in a garage near Tropical Parkway and Camino Eldorado on Wednesday. Wiest died and another person was injured.

“They kidnapped Frankie’s ex-girlfriend and they took her there and they stripped her down — made her break her phone so she couldn’t call anybody,” said a family friend. “Frankie dropped to his knees and he put his hands behind his head like this and he said, ‘Please don’t shoot me. God, please don’t shoot me. Please help me,’ and they shot him twice in the stomach.”

A friend say Camacho allegedly shot the boys over $70,000 he thought they had, all while allegedly forcing Frankie’s ex-girlfriend to watch.

Celia Gagnon

The Clark County Coroner has identified the woman found dead in a business near Tropicana Avenue and Pecos Road. Celia Gagnon, 54, of Las Vegas was found in Peru Post Etc., a business she owned, on February 13.

The coroner’s report says Gagnon died of blunt force trauma to her head. It named the secondary cause of assault.

Police say 62-year-old Teofilo Bora, also known as Teofilo Borja-Ormeno, is a person of interest in the murder. Police believe he drives a 1997 GMC Yukon with license plates 831-VBX.
