Getty died Tuesday morning at her home in Hollywood. She had been out of the public spotlight for several years, suffering from advanced dimentia.

Estelle Getty had a long career but was most recently known for playing the sarcastic octogenarian, Sophia, on the hit TV show, “The Golden Girls.” She won two Emmy awards in that role. In truth, she was actually the youngest of the cast members on the show. Estelle Getty was 84.
