Disney’s award-winning Broadway phenomenon, THE LION KING, celebrated its Las Vegas premiere at Mandalay Bay Theatre Friday evening. Several members of the original creative team were in attendance to launch the show, including director/creator Julie Taymor; book writers Roger Allers and Irene Mecchi; choreographer Garth Fagan; scene designer Richard Hudson; and Thomas Schumacher, producer and president of Disney Theatrical Group.  ”High School Musical” is coming to Las Vegas. A stage production of the Disney Channel movie will be in Las Vegas June 4-8 at Planet Hollywood. The stage adaptation includes a live orchestra and 34 cast members. It has all the songs of the soundtrack plus two additional ones. Tickets go on sale next Saturday — April 26 — at noon. Parents — get your wallets ready.
