Stars Team Up for Poker Fundraiser

Stars such as Tony Hawk, Christian Slater, Brad Garrett, Jason Alexander, Joanna Krupa, Montel Williams, Donnie Wahlberg, Marlon Waynes and Slash were among the 39 players who competed in the $540 event in The Venetian Poker Room – raising more than $42,000 for Three Square, a food charity in Southern Nevada.

AJ Buckley from CSI NY, Nicholas Gonzalez and Shaun Sipos of CW’s Melrose Place and UFC fighter Tito Ortiz were also in attendance.

Christian Slater was amazingly friendly and a fan favorite. He kept jumping up from the poker table to take photos with the fans lining the aisles. A bounty was put on Daniel Negreanu and the prize – a signed guitar by Slash – went to actor Donnie Wahlberg. Donnie said he was going to give the guitar to his son.

Zak “Zakooza” Alameddine from New York won the event and a ticket into next year’s PokerStars.net Caribbean Adventure in the Bahamas. He beat top poker pros such as Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth, world champion Joe Cada, Gavin Griffin, Dennis Phillips, Chris Moneymaker and Vanessa Rousso.

Baseball legend, Orel Hershiser, came second winning a seat in the NAPT Mohegan Sun event in April. John Beveridge from Henderson, Nevada, came third and won a seat into today’s $5,000 PokerStars.net North American Poker Tour Venetian Main Event which is set to attract more than 800 players.

After playing in the tournament, the stars headed up to TAO Nightclub for cocktails, hors dourves and a special musical performance by recording artist T-Pain.

Viva Elvis! World Premiere at Aria (Pictures & Review)

The world premiere of Cirque Du Soleil’s Viva Elvis! was a star studded event. Celebrities packed the blue carpet. Elvis Presley’s ex-wife, Priscilla, was on hand for the opening.

I saw the show after working the blue carpet and wanted to give you an idea of what it was like. Overall, I enjoyed it. I was entertained. The colors, the costumes, the dancers, the signers… were all great. Could it use a little extra something? I’d have to say, “yes.”

Maybe the something is more Cirque. More acrobats. More performances that make you say, WOW.

This being said, I enjoyed the old clips of Elvis Presley. Especially the ones of him going off to the military. I also never realized HOW MANY women he kisssed in movies!

My favorite numbers were the military, Jail House Rock, and the superheroes scene (some amazing Cirque moves in this part of the show.)

The show ended with “Viva Las Vegas.” This was a Jubilee style number. Colorful costumes and a large number of performers on stage.

Viva Elvis! is more of a mix of Cirque and Broadway. Many people have asked me, “is it just like the show LOVE?” No it’s not. It is different.

I think it will only get better. I think it’s worth seeing and you will walk away happy. It’s fun and it’s emotional too. It’s the King of Rock & Roll!!

Channing Tatum Celebrates Opening of “Dear John” in Vegas

Actor Channing Tatum and his wife, Jenna Dewan Tatum, celebrated in Las Vegas this weekend. The couple sipped champagne to mark the opening of Channing’s new movie “Dear John.”

Hilton Hosts Red Carpet for Corey Haim’s New Movie

The former child superstar of such films as “Lost Boys”, “License to Drive”, “Lucas”, among many others, makes his comeback to movies in the film AMERICAN SUNSET, on January 25th at the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel Theater at 7:30pm.

The night will feature the film’s stars Corey Haim, Frank Molina, as well as Bernie Robichaud, best known as Cyrus on the hit TV Show “Trailer Boys”, and beautiful new comer Angela Cullins. Rounding out the cast in attendance is Eric A. Leffler, Director Michael Masucci, Writer/Producer Jackie Giroux, Executive Producer Gary Rasmussen, among many more guest celebrities.

There is also a premiere party at Hawaiian Tropic Zone at Planet Hollywood Saturday night. Cast and crew will be there!

Vdara Hotel Opens at CityCenter with Star Studded Event

Vdara Hotel & Spa had its Grand Opening Tuesday night, hosted by Vanity Fair. Also enjoying the gala were famed photographer and host Sebastian Copeland and Rosario’s boyfriend DJ Mathieu Schreyer who was spinning at the party.

Vdara is the first hotel to open at CityCenter. An all-suite hotel and spa designed for those who love the excitement of Vegas but prefer to enjoy it in an exclusive, non-gaming, smoke-free environment.

Celebrities Appear at Global Gaming Expo Opening

Chris Noth of “Sex and the City,” posed with IGT’s new slot machine bearing the successful television series’ name. Noth is known as “Mr. Big” on the show. He also appears in the CBS show, “The Good Wife.”

The Global Gaming Expo, called G2E, is an international event for the gaming entertainment industry. It runs November 17th to the 19th in Las Vegas and features 520 exhibitors, including 92 from 26 countries.

G2E 2009 is expected to attract 25,000 attendees, and has been held in Las Vegas since its inception in 2001.

Will Ferrell & Mark Wahlberg Shoot Movie in Las Vegas

Check this out! Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell on the set of their new movie The Other Guys. They were at the he Flamingo Las Vegas on he strip this weekend. Crowds gathered outside of The Flamingo and Margaritaville to watch the filming and traffic slowed as fans got a glimpse of the stars on the set.

Wahlberg and Ferrell looked right at home with Ferrell in a ‘Vegas Baby Vegas’ t-shirt and Wahlberg with a tall Margaritaville “yard” drink in his hand.

The Other Guys is directed by Adam McKay. His other films include: Talladega Nights, Step Brothers and Anchorman. Other actors in the movie include: Dwayne Johnson, Samuel L. Jackson, Eva Mendes, Anne Heche, Michael Keeton, Steve Coogan, & Paris Hilton.

MJ’s Father Attends “This Is It” Premiere at Palms

“This Is It” premiered at Brenden Theater at the Palms Wednesday night. The film is a documentary about Michael Jackson’s upcoming tour London tour that never happened. Jackson died a short time before it was suppose to begin.

Michael Jackson’s father, Joe Jackson, was on hand to watch the film. He was also there for the dedication of a star to the Jackson family. CEO, Johnny Brenden presented it to him. Don King, Todd Bridges and Rashida Ali were also there for the screening.
