Will There Be ‘Love’ and Amy Winehouse At Grammys?
Our own local show, Cirque du Soleil’s “Love” is nominated for a Grammy for best compilation soundtrack for visual media. While I’m sure we’ll be rooting for our hometown faves, all eyes will more than likely be waiting to see the fabulously talented trainwreck that is Amy Winehouse. She’s scheduled to perform via satellite — after being denied (then allowed) to come to the U.S. for the show. This young star is amazing, evoking the glory days of old Motown sounds with her writing and performing but sadly her alleged drug escapades threaten her future. As documented in her breakout hit, “Rehab,” she has issues. Here’s hoping the song title sticks, she gets the help she needs and then continues to knock our socks off with her talent — before she ends up another tragic statistic.
