Actor Heath Ledger, 28, Found Dead
Heath Ledger was found dead Tuesday in New York. Police think drugs may have been a factor. Considering he was only 28, that’s probably a good guess.
It’s been a tough week for those who follow the entertainment world. Last week, another young Hollywood actor was found dead, apparently from a drug overdose. Brad Renfro had been a child star after getting cast to star with Susan Sarandon in “The Client,” but in later years, he had a history of drug use and trouble with the law.
Actress Suzanne Pleshette, long beloved from her days starring as Bob Newhart’s wife in his first T.V. series, died Saturday, Jan. 19, just short of her 71st birthday on Jan. 31. The cause of death was respiratory failure but she had been fighting lung cancer. Her last husband, Tom Poston (who starred in the second Newhart series), died last year. You can see a video obituary for her by visiting LasVegasNOW’s video page.
On Jan. 18, actress Lois Nettleton passed away at age 80 from lung cancer. According to the AP, “One of her best-remembered TV roles was Norma in a 1961 doomsday episode of “The Twilight Zone” called “The Midnight Sun.” She also had a three-year role as Virginia Benson on the soap opera “General Hospital.”
Still can’t believe it about Ledger and Renfro — Ledger has a little girl with actress Michelle Williams. So sad.
