Toni Braxton won’t be returning to the stage for a few more weeks. Officials at the Flamingo say her show is set to resume June 6. Braxton was hospitalized April 7 after complaining of chest pains. But officials have not commented on her condition. The Flamingo is offering refunds for the cancelled shows.
Well the beat goes on… pop entertainment icon Cher will begin her three-year engagement at Caesars Palace starting tonight. Some fans will be payig as much as $250 for a ticket to see the star. She is scheduled to do 200 shows. Her show, “Cher at the Colosseum” will feature dancers and lots of costume changes, as expected. Cher’s been entertaining audiences for nearly 40 years. How many of you remember the Sony and Cher show? How do you think she will do in Vegas?
Legendary actress Beverlee McKinsey passed away May 2 at 72 from complication due to a kidney transplant. She was best known for playing two iconic roles on daytime — the first one as Iris Carrington on Another World in the 1970s and the second as Alexandra Spaulding on Guiding Light during the mid 1980s through 1992. According to the website TMZ, Gary Dourdan, who played Warrick on the CBS drama, “CSI,” has been picked up in Palm Springs on suspicion of possessing heroin, cocaine, ecstasy and prescription drugs. Apparently, law enforcement sources told the gossip site that the actor was asleep in his car when they approached it and made the bust. They say he was taken to the Palm Springs jail where he posted $5,000 to get out.
Donny and Marie Osmond will take over the Flamingo as Las Vegas’ latest headliner. The brother/sister duo will start an eight month run with their 90 minute variety show in September. But tickets go on sale Monday. (more…)
Nicolette Goulet died on April 17, 2008, here in Las Vegas, after losing her battle with breast cancer. She was Robert Goulet’s daughter from his first marriage to Louise Longmore. Goulet appeared on many soap operas. She replaced Kate Mulgrew in the role of Mary Ryan on “Ryan’s Hope,” as Kathy on “Search for Tomorrow,” as Casey on “As The World Turns,” but it was as Meredith Reade on “Guiding Light” that I had the honor of working with her — albeit briefly. According to the Associated Press, Anthony E. Zuiker, creator and executive producer of the “CSI” franchise, is planning to write his memoirs to be released in the fall of 2009.
