Culinary Union Endorses Barack Obama

obama_endorsed_250.jpgPresidential candidate Barack Obama has won the support of the 60,000-member Culinary Workers Union in Nevada, a major coup for the Democrat that could boost his candidacy against Hillary Rodham Clinton in the party’s major nominating contest.

Leaders of the Culinary Workers Union, Local 226, was to announce the endorsement at a news conference in Las Vegas Wednesday, the morning after Obama narrowly lost the New Hampshire primary to Clinton, said a Democrat close to the union.

The top seven major Democratic presidential candidates squared off Thursday night in a debate at UNLV.

Delaware Sen. Joe Biden, New York Sen. Hillary Clinton, Connecticut Sen. Chris Dodd, Former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards, Ohio Rep. Dennis Kucinich, Illinois Sen. Barack Obama and New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson debated in the nationally televised debate.
