If you would like a glimpse into the future of energy-independent living, you may want to take the Southern Nevada Solar Home Tour.

The tour will feature homes, schools and businesses across the valley that use renewable energy systems, save water and are considered green. The event is designed to increase public awareness about green living.

The tour kicks off at 9 a.m. from the Springs Preserve at 333 South Valley View Blvd on Saturday, April 5. The self-guided tour runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and there is a cost of $15 per vehicle. Hybrid/alternative fuel vehicles will receive a $5 discount.
