A six-week pilot program will be conducted to determine if City Ride bus system should add new stops to its downtown route.
Starting Monday, July 16, and continuing through Friday, Aug. 24, the extended bus routes for City Ride Buses 101 and 102 will be put into operation on a trial basis.
The buses will now continue south on Casino Center Blvd. to Coolidge Ave, just north of Charleston.
At the conclusion of the test period, passenger counts will be monitored and a determination will be made as to whether or not the temporary bus routes should become permanent.
City Ride Bus numbers 101 and 102 operate daily from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. It is anticipated that stops along the new extended routes will be in 20 to 25-minute intervals which is a change from the current timed stops which are 15 minutes. Bus fares will remain at 50 cents or 25 cents for seniors.
