Hot temperatures bring out creepy crawlers. But some were here already. Do you have any war stories about insect infestations in your home?

  2. The canning jar roach trap works great IF you use peanut butter. Take a one-pint “Ball” brand mason canning jar [available at supermarket grocers], put a large dob of peanut butter on the bottom of the jar, then lean the upright jar against the outside foundation/siding of the house. Place jars three feet apart. The roaches will crawl in and cannot crawl out. Peanut butter works better than the coffee grounds and water since peanut butter is an indestructible food source. It won’t dry out quickly and lose its effectiveness like coffee grounds/water combo would. Peanut butter is a cheap food bait when it is bought as a supermarket generic/house brand. Chunky peanut butter is great. I trapped 50 roaches, outdoors, in one night doing this.

  3. Tonight I saw the biggest bug I have ever seen in my life. I grew up in Las Vegas. I have seen every bug, snake, lizard, wolf, coyote, mule, horse, or anything else that Nevada has to offer. I went to Colorado and Minnesota and Illinois and I have never seen a bug like the one I saw tonight. It was about 3 to 4 inches long and it flew. It made a loud flying noise with its wings so its arrival was unmistakeable. I wanted to take a picture of it but by the time I got the camera it had disappeared. I talked to my mother about it and she said she saw another one just outside of the local convenience store the other day. These are not local to our community like I said I grew up here and I have never ever seen one like this before. it looked like a giant cocaroach but it couldnt possibly be.

I decided to let it go so I sat outside in the night. Suddenly I heard it again and it scared me so bad I nearly jumped out of my skin. This is NO cocaroach. I would like to know what we are being invaded by. It scares the hell out of me. I am not a god fearing person but it made me think of something from the bible like the end of the world. It makes the hair stand up all over me.

  4. This happened about 10 years back. My mom and I had just moved into a new house, near the old Showboat Hotel & Casino. The FIRST night there, we saw something fly across the room. It was HUGE! We saw a couple more. They weren’t moths, butterflies, or even birds. They were flying roaches! The place wasn’t infested with them, but it had about 10 or 20 in there. We were freaked out! We couldn’t go to sleep! They were in every room! Anyway, RAID did the trick, and sent those little buggers to the big roach motel in the sky! We were so glad to get rid of those. I am glad these days, because all i have to deal with in my yard are the crawling roaches and waterbugs. If i see one, i get out the RAID again!

  5. I do wonder about the canning jar roach trap. It’s such a great trap, but how come the roaches can’t crawl out?? If you have more than a few of them in there, how come they can’t piggyback themselves out of there? Don’t get me wrong. I am glad they don’t know how to do it. It’s a mystery to me.
