I just bought near the new gun park and for that reason. prices are way down $81 per sq. foot. I know my values will jum when park opens.

Floyd Lamb Park has shooting every day and Wednesday nights. No Problem.

I hope the planned horse park does not bring in flies.

Marie, I appreciate you responding. I have read your blogs and I have learned quite a lot from them. I don't live in Carmel Canyon - I have listened to your representatives at one of our HOA meetings - the information they gave me I repeated on this blog and I got new information from you and others that contradicts some of the things they said, some has been back by facts and some are still only backed by opinions. I have not accused you of anything. I have said nothing about putting you or anyone into someones shoes who has lost a loved one....the words you typed above are "You stated to put ourselves in someone’s shoes who have lost a friend/loved one and we would feel differently. Those of us who have lost friends and/or loved ones stated that we have, and we don’t feel differently, and it’s then viewed as a personal attack." When did I say that? Educate me please, that is why I am on this blog. I just said think outside the box. Your way isn't always the only way..just as my way isn't the only way either. I also have not demanded any legislation, or made any knee jerk reactions...you are possibly still upset over the personal attacks people made against you. I for one was NEVER one of those people. I have never attended any meeting reference this shooting park until 04/17/08 and that was only at my HOA meeting and I had no clue about your HOA reps even being at my meeting until I walked in the door of my neighbors home. Their portion was not even listed on our agenda and they spoke for over an hour about the park and at that time, it was the first I had heard about any of this information. Based on what I learned that night I went to this blog and was truly offended that people would attack people for buying a home from a developer and trusting that developer to provide those same people with factual information about what was being build around them. I added to the blogs and as a result, I was attacked by people that are for the gun park when I never even said I was against it. If I am not against the park then I think that makes me a gun park supporter don't you think? I just had questions and was speaking based on the knowledge I was provided by people my HOA and yours claim to be competent people only looking out for the good of the HOA's. I have not spoken to a single one of them since that night nor have I spoken to anyone else other than the people on this blog and the people on this blog have done nothing but attack me and others unnecessarily. I did go back and read the blogs and out of the first 12 blogs - 5 of them directly attacked the homeowners that live in this area saying they didn't do their homework etc etc. Reading further down I realized that the bulk of the rude, personal attacking comments are from Nancy, Cal and Dolores. Reread their blog comments. They attacked and attacked anyone that made a statement against the park. That is the reason this blog fizzled out not because of the whining non park lovers out there. If you truly have the facts backing you then by all means please keep putting the truth out there but the one fact remains that you are comparing apples and oranges when you are comparing this range to any other range in the world as this one is going to be bigger than anything else out there. There is no comparison and all safeguards and worst case scenarios must be thought out before this park opens and people potentially get hurt. For the last time, that is all I have asked for - ensure my safety and the safety of my family and neighbors and I could care less where the range goes. I am not worried about property values, being sue happy, etc etc. I would like some truthful answers from someone that sold me my house as to why the information was not disclosed to me but other than that I just want safety to be the upmost priority.

(emotions) this is not the place for emotions, this is a place to pot facts an facts only. I knew Henry Prendes as a police officer and acquaintance, nuff said.
The major problem is you have (N) giving all of you folks the wrong information on the entire project, he is sturing all you people up with your **emotions** and then he sits back and is LOL at all of you. being from california he is a natural firearms hater, his past position he was a P/R person. He has manipulated all of you into thinking this is a bad thing in reality it for your benefit. This is why I say that, you have a nice home some of you payed better than $400,00.00+ so when the park is built and you still don't like the park there then you could probably sell out in the upper $600.000.+ then you could find your little place in smallville or somewhere else away from the range and the north part of the valley. I purchased my home 7 years ago in this same area because I did my homework and I knew the range was going in on the spot. I also had coyote's coming up to my yard but now that you have encroached in my part of the world. When the competitive shooters come hear to shoot in Professional Shooting Matches they will be looking for homes in the area to buy ho don't forget the sponsors that pay big bucks for there shooters to get here, maby they will buy your home. Just a thought. So stop your whining, lay back and make your money back plus.

This is in response to some points made by ss - the reason why so many of us "gun lovers" are not writing on here anymore are due to the personal attacks and "statements of facts" that are without proof or merit. What's the point? Too many people are acting on emotion and not logic (case in point - my "representatives" in my Carmel Canyon HOA who have thrown so many lies out there they are no longer viewed as credible by many people). I've been attacked as well, yet I'm not whining about it. When you put yourself out there, you WILL be debated and attacked. I've put FACTS out there, and I was accused of making them up to suit my position (again - much like the Carmel Canyon HOA "representatives" have done). You stated to put ourselves in someone's shoes who have lost a friend/loved one and we would feel differently. Those of us who have lost friends and/or loved ones stated that we have, and we don't feel differently, and it's then viewed as a personal attack.

Look through this blog - you will see that most of the people that are attacking based on emotion are against the gun park, shooting, guns, whatever. Many people (not all) who are experienced and responsible gun owners have provided facts in attempts to counter those emotional responses, only to be met with more emotion and no facts. And then you wonder why us "gun lovers" quit responding? It's impossible, which is why this blog has fizzled to where it's just a bunch of emotions getting batted back and forth. There are some of us diehards here who still have this pipe dream that people will quit demanding that legislation be enacted and things be banned based on knee jerk reactions (which never works).

You are right Nancy M...I don't speak for you and I don't speak for anyone else who has lost a loved one due to violence. I never included you in that statement at all and I never spoke for you at all. I have my right to my opinion as to how I think people may feel. I never said that Sgt. Prendes wife did not like the AK-47. I said ask her how she feels...that was said to make people think outisde the box...that is not me saying Sgt. Prendes wife hates AK-47's. I never said those words at all. You, however, are just as guilty as you say I am for assuming what someone else believes as you stated in your comment, "The LAST thing Sgt. Prendes’s family needs is someone speaking on their behalf who does NOT share their opinion". You obviously know for a fact that the family does not share that opinion so you must be an official spokesperson for them. I am not anti-gun either, but people on these blogs are accusing me of that. Aren't these blogs here for us to express our opinions? The right to express our freedom of speech rights? You have expressed your opinion and I have expressed mine. It seems to me you all ran out of things to say about having the addition of the park to the community, and now you are all resorting now to personal attacks against the people on here who have opinions of their own that don't match your opinions. I made my first opinions and comments as is my right on #87. I was personally attacked in the next few blogs as to my incompetence, and that I really am not for gun usage and that I am angry. These attacks were unjustified and extremely rude when I was not attacking anyone. I was looking for answers to questions I had and stating things that I believed to be true as they were told to me. I have been slightly educated by some of the responses I have gotten but mostly I have learned that most of the people on this blog have some serious issues. Personal attacks seem to come from all of you so called Park supporters and the people being attacked are the people you claim are anti-park, anti-gun etc. I am getting the picture here, it is okay for all of you that are 110% for the park to attack anyone and everyone that does not share the same opinion as you, but anyone that does not share your opinions is obviously not worthy enough to voice their own opinions. If you don't want to know our opinions then don't read them on these blogs. Like I said before, build the park, I don't care, just guarantee me the safety of my family. Go back and read my statements in #87 and again in #97 where I clarified what I had been saying. I will speak directly to you Nancy on this - I am very sorry for your loss. I do not know what it feels like to lose someone in that way and I never want to know what it feels like. I would also like to add that putting in a shooting park will not prevent it from ever happening to someone else's loved one either. Gun education only educates those that want to learn and use it for good. It will not change a thing in our society, the dirtbags will still be murdering be it with guns, knives etc. People will still go out and shoot in the desert and accidentally kill someone. Putting in a shooting park won't change a thing. It will just give the responsible gun lovers a place to have competitions and that is all it will do for this community, which doesn't seem like a lot to me. Again, that is just my opinion which I have the right to state!

Thank You Marie!!
I was very ANTI-GUN until I was 18 years old. Until I was 18 years old, I ALWAYS blamed the gun used to kill my Father for my Father's death. I should have been blaming the person who held the gun, placed it next to my Father's right temple, and pulled the trigger - whether that person was my Father, as I believe or, someone else, as my husband believes. People NEED to take responsibility for their actions and stop blaming inanimate objects BUT, in a court of law (with many lawyers) it is all TOO EASY to CLAIM the gun just "Went Off". The gun can NOT just go off without pressure on the trigger. The gun can NOT "accidentally" shoot and kill someone without being pointed in the direction of that person. The blame lies with THE PERSON holding the weapon NOT the weapon!!
So, SS you say:
"I dare you to ask his wife what she thinks of that type of weapon. So shut your mouth before you accuse people of things you have no clue about".
I am a citizen who has lost a very dear loved one through the use of a weapon. You DO NOT speak for me NOR do you speak for Sergeant Henry Prendes family. I am very sorry for the loss to Sgt. Prendes's family. The LAST thing Sgt. Prendes's family needs is someone speaking on their behalf who does NOT share their opinion. Someone who is on a tangent but, clueless to the facts! Whoever you were directing your "Shut your mouth" comment towards (which directly followed Cal Farnsworth's comment) is going against their right to Freedom of Speech. Just as you have the right to Freedom of your (clueless) opinions, Cal Farnsworth has the right to express his opinions. Similar to his right to bear arms!!
So SS, when you stand up for citizens touched by gun violence, please take time to talk to all of US before you open your mouth with your opinion - you may NOT be sharing the same opinion as us! Therefore, you have NO RIGHT to even CLAIM to know how I feel nor what I think. I want the range built as planned (before homeowners built their houses nearby) so I can practice with my weapons. If you read the previous postings (around #80ish), you will see that my 14 year old daughter NEEDS a place to practice HER SPORT OF SHOOTING to help her qualify for the Olympics. I am sure we will speak on this blog again soon, SS. When you do write your next blog, please limit your opinions to YOUR feelings and NOT what you THINK Mrs. Sgt. Prendes and my feelings should reflect based on your interpretations.

Obviously my point is lost in translation. I never said anything about a gun just going and shooting someone on its own. I am not a moron! Thank you for the assumption though. Shall I assume things about you Marie and you Cal?? I feel that the guns of that type should be tracked so they don't hit the black market and some freaking gang member can't use it to kill innocent people. If that gang member did not have access to that type of weapon the Officers would not have been outgunned that day and they would have been able to use their own weapons in a fair gun fight to stop the suspect from killing anyone. Thank your Sheriff for not allowing officers the right to carry a rifle in their patrol cars, I guess the 2nd amendment doesn't apply to the cops that need the weapons. If they had been able to have rifles available to them, Henry may have lived because just their handguns were no match. They had to wait until an officer who was authorized to carry a rifle(but only in his trunk at the time, because supposedly the general public thought it was offensive for an officer to carry a rifle in the front seat, it was too intimidating). I would never use Henry's death as a tool to take away other peoples rights. How dare you accuse me of that. I never said that, I said how do you think Henry's wife feels about AK-47's. That has nothing to do with taking away your 2nd Amendment rights. I am sure having these type of regulations wouldn't apply to any of you Patriotic gun lovers out there. YOU all would be able to shoot them at your gun ranges any old time you wanted. I am sick of all of you trying to just make this out that you poor poor gun lovers have nowhere suitable to shoot your weapons. I believe this city and even Pahrump has multiple gun ranges indoors and out for pistol and shotgun shooting yet there are still people out in the desert shooting their weapons. Do you honestly think those same people are going to flock all the way out to the CCSP to shoot their weapons for a nominal fee...give me a break. This park is for gun enthusiasts not your normal everday gun owner. Just because a person owns a gun doesn't make them a Patriotic anything. You can try to justify it all you want but the reality is, the people shooting it up in the desert will still shoot in the desert, the people who shouldn't even have a gun in the first place will still shoot wherever and at whomever they want to. You gun loving Patriotic responsible 2nd Amendment quoting people will be the ones using the range and good for all of you, enjoy it. Support your local NRA chapter, have gun parties, have your competitions, just quit trying to justify the reason for the park. The park is going to be built no matter what any of the residents in this area think. I ask again and these are my only requests...build a suitable sound wall and guarantee me that there will NEVER be an accidental discharge in the parking lot of the range that may accidentally be facing in the direction of my home and my neighbors home. THAT IS ALL I mentioned in my first comment but you all want to twist words and make things out to be something they are not just to try to justify the existence of the shooting park that I never said I was against in the first place. I want to know for a fact that not one single person that comes to that range will stay in the parking lot in their RV and drink any form of alcohol(because I am sure the RVs will all be inspected when the people come in and the people will be inspected each time they return to the lot when they drive into the city daily) and no so called responsible gun lover will lose his head and drink alcohol(NRA members and Patriotic gun owners never drink right?) after 10 pm when the park closes then go out to the end of the parking lot with his gun to show it off to a friend and fire off a round to show how cool his new gun is and then one of my neighbors finds that bullet lodged in his wall the next morning. That would NEVER EVER happen right? Oh maybe that just happens in the movies. I am just asking for a little responsiblity from the County and for them to acknowledge that they screwed up the planning process in this area. CC and City Planning decides where the home sites are to be released. They released the land for Carmel Canyon and La Ventina after they settled on the suitable piece of land for the shooting park. It is a classic case of the right hand not speaking to the left hand which is completely typical of the County and City. I pesonally didn't walk out into the middle of the desert and just lay claim to a plot of land and make it my own and then start complaining when I found out about a gun park next door. I visited multiple developments in the area, I spoke to multiple realtors, I think overall about 5 realtors before we bought this house. I received a map that was certified by the City and it shows clearly on the map that the area where the shooting park is going but the wording on that map conveniently didn't include the word shooting. It says for future proposed Park, not future proposed Shooting Park. There is also a location on the map that says future Equestrian Park but still nothing about the word Shooting anywhere. Not a single person ever mentioned the words Shooting Park to me or any of my neighbors at the time. So,who is responsible for producing the map, who is responsible for releasing the lots out here for homes when a shooting park was already zoned out here. Someone conveniently left off a very important word that could have made a huge difference to a lot of potential home buyers. Do we blame ourselves, do we blame our realtor, do we blame our developer, do we blame the City, the County??? Who do we blame? Does it really even matter at this point? Bottom line is that I know the shooting park is here to stay at this point, I already own my home and love my home and have no intention of moving anytime soon. So, my only concern again is the safety of my home and the homes around me. I want guarantees that there will be an adequate sound wall put up..not just a line of trees and that there will never ever ever be an accidental discharge from one single person that ever comes to the park in the direction of any homes. Just guarantee me that and quit justifying the parks existence and I can assure you that most of the homeowners won't care if the park goes in or not. Oh and by the way, I am not one of the few that signed the petition against the park either but thanks for that assumption too Cal. Now, I will stop ranting so I can go to the indoor range and practice shooting my gun...oh yeah..I guess I forgot to mention that I am a gun owner too and so is my husband, parents, grandparents and friends. Thanks for that assumption against me though once again, appreciate it.
