It feels like we’re hearing every day about yet another pulled pet food product. What’s safe? What’s not? What are the signs of a pet in trouble? Please post any useful links you know about, helpful information you’ve come across, or just voice your fears or love for your pet. We want to hear from you.
And, today the FDA says this:
“Still, the FDA has no intention of banning imports of wheat gluten, rice protein or similar products from China.
“We believe the safety net is in place to make sure that no additional products are going to get into the commerce of the United States,” said David Elder, director of FDA’s enforcement office.”
Now wouldn’t it seem that if there were ANY safety nets in place, the first contaminated products wouldn’t have made it into the country — or, the second contaminated products… Now they are checking other ‘human’ food to see if it’s contaminated but say “don’t worry”… gIVE ME A BREAK. Just one more instance of poor planning and ineptitude.
I suggest everyone write to their state senator and demand the stop of all Chinese food imports until SOMEONE can guarantee the safety of it.

I am absolutely appalled at the attitude of our government. I check the pet food list regularly to make sure the puppy food we purchase is not on the list. Now it is also involving humans - what next????? Oops - arsenic in the oatmeal !!!!

Here’s another example of “less government interference”. Should we just de-regulate everything that might cost a dime? Good thinking voters! Big, fat companies can now improve the bottom line by any means with no regulations to stop them. Our health care sucks, you can’t trust labeling on food containers and how do you know that the flu shot that you PAID FOR was the real thing? It may be Chinese wheat wash!WAKE UP PEOPLE! IT’S TIME TO CLEAN HOUSE!

I am so afraid to give my pets anything because when I find something that is supposed to be ‘Safe’ there are new recalls coming in. This is insanity! It seems like anyday now SOMEONE with a consience is going to come foreward and spill the beans that this tainted crap from China is in human consumption food, too! And to the person that is worried that our flu shots are going to be just ‘Chinese wheat wash’ Let me tell you that the MERCURY that is in EVERY (except thimerosol-free, which IS mercury) flu shot in the US will make you sicker and kill you faster that Chinese wheat wash. Ask your doctor. No wait, read up on it online. Please!

Being a member of the Humane Society, I can assure you that you can get any additional information from them with regard to any expanded recalls, and the like. At this time, and until we have tracked every last can, it would be in your best interest to lay off the wet food.

i lost two pets from this food and i know how other people feel. i certainly hope this was not a deliberate attack on people’s pets and or people. when they recalled the food, they give it to other animals, it gets into the human food supply. that’s real dumb. they should have dumped it or burned it. so other animals could not get into it.i certainly hope the people that did this are punished, they should pay for peoples grieving from the loss of their beloved pets.
