Knut, the Baby Polar Bear

Friday, March 23rd, 2007

There is a controversy brewing in Germany about whether Knut, a baby polar bear, should be allowed to live after he was abandoned by his mother. Ironically, the animal activists were the ones advocating the cub be killed, reasoning that he was better off dead than raised by humans. What do you think of their reasoning, and what do you think of Knut?

Students with Guns at School

Friday, March 9th, 2007

During the first week of March, two students were arrested for having handguns on campus.

The first student had an unloaded gun in the parking lot of Mojave High School. The second student had a loaded handgun in his pocket on the Canyon Springs High School campus.

Earlier this school year, another Canyon Springs student was arrested for shooting at a school bus, possibly carrying the gun around at school earlier in the day.

The principal of Canyon Springs High School says he has suggested ways to prevent weapons on campus, but nobody seems to listen.

Should the Clark County School District install metal detectors? What are your ideas?
