Pahrump, ha! Pahrump is basically a wasteland for the old and socially secluded. If you want to live in a place where the color of dirt is more abundant than the sky and old people are killing off their spouses then pahrump is your haven.

I think this is a great idea, after all the the most important issue is that the learning and educational difficulties it is creating for our english speaking schoola ge children is not fair. Educators are spending too much time a nd money on educating hispanic children and cutting the education the tax payers are supporting. Take a toll on the the tax paying parents of the hispanic children and this should factor into the english only equation hands down...

It's about time someone is standing up for America!!! I have several friends that pay taxes do there american duties and can't get a job because of illegal's taking over our country. That's right, this is not Mexico and Hello, duh English is our language. It's really sad it has to be justified. When I see illegal immigrants paying taxes and not screwing our system anymore will be the day I learn Spanish, won't happen. I can't beleive our government hasn't done more by now, they should be pissed as hell with all the money being taken from our nation to support key word "ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS". I'm scared for my children's education and well-being the standards are being lowered every year to accomidate to the illegals and this is not there country. To sum it all up, that is messed up and I hope to God something is done or here's the next Civil War.

It's funny how you can speak English when it's convenient for you. I have nothing against the people that go through the proper steps to become legal here in the U.S. but why should it be okay for the others that aren't legal to get the same benefits as the ones that go through so much to become legal, what is the point of anyone becoming legal? And it should be the parents responsibility to teach your children to speak English, not the other way around, and definitely not the schools responsibility so my child has less time to really learn what's needed when the teacher has to stop and explain to another child that doesn't understand because their parent's can't or won't teach them English....

I am tired of seeing Illegal immigrants and their employers break the law and be rewarded for their efforts, when they should be prosecuted for their actions. Laws need to be passed discouraging illegal immigration, not encouraging it. No jobs, Social Security Cards, housing, drivers licenses, car and home ownership, or bank accounts should be available to those illegally here.
No citizenship for children born here to illegals either. If tough measures are not taken now, the problem will only worsen over time.

"The outgoing lawmakers behind the bill say making English the official language could save the state money by not having to print ballots and other items in Spanish."

So does this mean that the state will use that extra money for those schools that house Spanish speaking students? Maybe provide better material to help those students speak proper English? Or does the State plan to pocket the money and pay themselves higher wages?

Spanish speaking people, like myself, will always speak Spanish no matter what bill you try to pass. Sorry, but it's impossible to rid someone of their heritage. By the way, we do have common sense in the fact that English is the most common language. That's why we speak English as well.

I say "Way to go!" regarding the proposed bill to make English the primary language for the state. It should go for the whole country, as this is AMERICA, not Mexico. We, as a whole, are making it too easy for the Mexicans to sneak over here, mooch off our government via welfare and other programs. All they do are have babies, and expect the government to take care of them without them having to learn a single thing about our language. If we go to Mexico, we sure as heck will have to learn Spanish to get by. I was in Europe last year, and yes, I was screwed since I didn't know their language. However, if I was to live there, I'd definitely make the effort to do so. I know I sound prejudice, but after reading tons of reports of Mexicans claiming that they're taking over Nevada and California, and proud of it, how can I not?
