Nevada has the highest percentage of teenage pregnancies compared to any other state in the country.
The non-profit agencies that counsel teenagers say the lack of education and the economy are to blame for the increase. A national study shows that 113 teens for every 1,000 in the state are pregnant.

An suspect robbed a business in the area of Tropicana and Hualapai on Aug. 1, 2009, according to Metro.
Police say the man pretended to have a weapon when he demanded money. Police are asking anyone who can identify the man to call Metro’s Robbery Section at (702)828-3591 or CrimeStoppers at (702) 385-5555.

Metro is searching for two suspects — a man and a woman – in a street robbery that happened July 31, 2009.
Police say the robbery happened around 2:30 a.m. in the area of Maryland Pkwy. and Bonanza. The suspects asked the victim for $1 and when he refused, police say, he was thrown to the ground and robbed. Anyone with information is asked to call (702)385-5555.

WHAT: Nevada’s tough new sex offender laws which would have classified offenders by crime have been found unconstitution.

George Knapp of the Eyewitness News I-Team has a story about a new UFO mystery. A large object with a turquoise hue plummeted out of the sky earlier this summer and plowed into the earth south of Las Vegas near Needles, California. Tons of deadly cargo passes through Las Vegas every day aboard Union Pacific rail cars. Although rail is statistically the safest transport system in the country, accidents do happen, such as the close call in Las Vegas 11 months ago.

The State of Nevada faces almost a billion dollar budget shortfall. The Nuclear Energy Institute says there is a solution that requires no increase in taxes or cutting programs, but it comes with one very large string attached.
The NEI says the federal government could give the state $1 billion next year, effectively erasing the budget shortfall, but the state would have to drop any objection to shipping the nation’s nuclear waste to Yucca Mountain, 90 miles northwest of Las Vegas.
